LIEOC’S NEW AVIATION SERVICE PROGRAM

The Aviation Service Program is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the aviation industry. This program provides the foundational knowledge and skills needed to begin a career in one of the world’s most dynamic industries. The program consists of one required course followed by a specialized elective pathway.

Program Structure

Required Course – AERO 4000: Introduction to Aviation (16 Hours)
All students begin with this four-week course, which provides a broad overview of the aviation industry. Topics include the history of aviation, general and commercial aviation, airport and airway systems, air traffic control, governmental oversight, economic impact, and career opportunities. Students will explore the many pathways available within aviation while developing a foundational understanding of how the industry operates.

 After completing Introduction to Aviation, students may choose one of the following specialization courses:

 AERO 4001: Line Service Technician (24 Hours) (TABE Scores required – Reading: 525; Math: 525)
This pathway prepares students for hands-on aviation support roles commonly found at airports and Fixed Base Operators (FBOs). Students learn about airport ramp operations, aircraft marshaling, towing, fueling, deicing, ground safety, fire prevention, airport security, weather-related operations, and customer interactions. The course emphasizes safe aircraft handling procedures and introduces students to the daily responsibilities of aviation ground support personnel.

AERO 4002: Aviation Customer Service Representative (24 Hours) (TABE Scores required – Reading 525; Math 490)
This pathway focuses on passenger and customer-facing roles within aviation. Students develop professional communication skills, learn conflict-resolution techniques, explore cultural awareness and accessibility requirements, and gain experience with customer-service technologies used across the industry. Topics also include aviation safety culture, complaint management, service recovery, and professionalism in a fast-paced transportation environment.

 Admission Requirements

Students interested in enrolling must meet the program’s entry requirements, which include:

• High school diploma or equivalent credential

 Program Completion

Students must complete Introduction to Aviation and their selected elective pathway. A minimum score of 70% on the final course assessment is required for successful completion. Students are evaluated using standard letter grades.
